Blog 2.7

Hey guys! I think we all have had a pretty crazy week! I had very little time to work on my pallets, but I did get some things done. I started working on sanding down some rough spots on the wood. I used some of the left over sandpaper to get the job done, which proved to be a very difficult task. So, after about two hours of pure frustration, I gave up. I did manage to get quite a few spots fixed.     This week I will get back to hand sanding and possibly used a mechanical hand sander which will hopefully be a lot easier. I will also work on stapling lights on to the pallets. I will need a lot of help from my mom for that. I hope your week has gone well! See you next week!

This week has been a total fail! I have had a ton of things going on this week that I have had to deal with. The only time I had to work on the pallets was on Tuesday and that was the day that the sky thought it was a good idea for it to snow. So now I have old, gross and wet pallets. I did manage to bring them into the garage to get them out of the snow.          This week I will get to work on the pallets and hopefully make them useable. I am hoping the snow didn't mess them up too much. I will keep you updated! Good luck this week!

Blog 2.5

I was just looking back at all of my previous blogs and the lack of originality is concerning. I start every blog out with the same phrase, "Hey guys! Welcome back to another week of wood working with Rachel." BORING. Anyways... hey guys welcome back to another week of wood working with Rachel. This week I somehow failed to take an after picture of my stool. Smooth Rach, real smooth. I failed in that aspect, but I did get finished up with my stool completely. My mom helped me coat the stool in polyurethane and it looked really great when I was done. All in all I am really glad that I got to do this for my mom because the stool had been with her since her childhood. I also have a nice step stool so I can reach the snacks my brother hides from me on the top shelf.      So, moving forward I am going to need a new project to start working on. My mother is going nuts with decorations for my grad party and she took some old pallets from my dad's work ...

Woodworking 2.4

Hey guys! My woodworking experience has been really fun so far! This stool has been way more of a project than I initially expected. This week I went back to Dave's shop and stained the stool. It was already all sanded down so staining it was pretty easy. Sanding was the most difficult and time consuming part of this project so far. I actually enjoyed staining the stool! In order to stain it, I had to add a generous layer of stain, let it sit for a few minutes and the wipe it away. The top of the stool was really easy, but trying to get into the small parts in the bottom proved to be a bit of a challenge. In order to help me get in the small spaces, I wrapped an old t shirt around my finger and that helped quite a bit.         This week I hope to finish up the stool completely. I think I might add another coat of stain to the top of the stool and then finish it with a coat of polyurethane. My mom is super excited of how it turned out and hon...
